Everything you need to know
Answers to the questions we get asked most about dog walking, home boarding, training, the Adventure Playground, and bookings.
Dog Walking
Group walks, solo walks and more tailored to your dog.
Do I need to be at home when you collect my dog?
No. Many of our regular customers trust us with a key so that we can collect and return their dog while they're at work or out of the house.
Do you collect dogs for walks?
Yes. Our walking service includes collection and return within the areas we cover.
How do you choose which dogs walk together?
We build groups around temperament, personality, energy and compatibility rather than simply matching dogs by breed or size.
My dog is reactive. Can you still walk them?
Potentially, yes. We usually start by assessing the dog and may recommend solo or training walks before introducing another suitable dog. Where possible, our aim is to help dogs develop the confidence and social skills needed to progress.
Will you let my dog off lead?
Only where we believe it is safe and appropriate and with the owner's agreement. Reliable recall comes first. We can also use long lines for dogs who need a bit more freedom, or our Adventure Playground depending on the needs of the group.
Home Boarding
A home from home, with comfy sofas and lots of love.
Do you board dogs in kennels?
No. Dogs stay inside our home as part of normal household life.
Can my dog go on the sofa?
Yes. We surrendered that battle a long time ago.
Can my dog sleep in your bed?
No. Dogs have plenty of comfortable sleeping options downstairs, including sofas, beds and crates where that forms part of their normal routine.
Do you accept unneutered dogs?
Yes. Being neutered or spayed is not automatically a requirement, although dogs cannot board while in season.
Do I provide my dog's food?
Yes. We ask you to provide enough of their normal food for the stay so there's no unnecessary change to their diet.
Will my dog be fed with the other dogs?
No. All dogs are fed separately.
Why is a trial night required?
The trial allows us to introduce your dog properly, see how they behave away from their owner and make sure they're comfortable with Buddy, our home and overnight boarding before you leave them for a longer stay.
Will you send me photos?
Absolutely. We provide regular updates, photos and videos during stays.
How many dogs do you board?
We are licensed for a maximum of three guest dogs at any time, alongside our own dog.
Do you take dogs with behavioural issues?
We assess dogs individually. Being nervous or reactive doesn't automatically rule a dog out, although some dogs may require training or introductions before they're ready to board safely. Be up front with us and we will happily work with you to get to where we need to be.
Adventure Playground
A secure, private space to play, explore and be a dog.
Is it a secure field?
It's slightly different. Think of it more as a large secure garden-style activity space with both outdoor and indoor areas rather than acres of open land.
Is the space private?
Yes. Your booking gives you private use of the Playground.
How many dogs can I bring?
Up to six dogs are included within a normal booking. If you want to bring more, contact us first.
Can I bring friends?
Yes. The booking is for the space, not per person, so you're welcome to enjoy it with friends and their dogs.
What if it rains?
You're in Yorkshire. It probably will. Luckily, the Adventure Playground includes two indoor rooms as well as the outdoor space.
Does my dog need good recall?
No. That's one of the main benefits of using a properly secured private space.
Dog Training
Practical, positive training for a calmer, happier dog.
What problems can you help with?
We commonly work on recall, lead pulling, jumping, barking, over-excitement, confidence, socialisation, basic obedience and manners around other dogs.
Will you train my dog without me?
Sometimes we recommend starting with a training walk so we can properly assess the dog and identify techniques that work. Long-term success still depends on the owner understanding and continuing the training, so we'll always involve you in that process.
Do you work with reactive dogs?
Yes. Reactivity doesn't automatically mean we can't help. We'll assess the dog first and discuss the best approach with you.
Where does training take place?
Training can take place locally in real-world environments or at our secure Adventure Playground where appropriate. We can travel further for training than our normal walking collection area, so please enquire if you're unsure whether we cover you.
Payments & Cancellations
Simple, fair and transparent.
How does boarding payment work?
A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure an accepted booking request. The remaining balance is normally taken approximately one week before the stay. Full booking and cancellation terms will be provided when you book.
What is your walking cancellation policy?
We require at least 72 hours' notice for walking cancellations. Full terms will be provided when your regular walking arrangement is agreed.
Do walks need paying for in advance?
Yes. Walking payments are made in advance rather than invoiced after the service.
